Horsing Around Town

Your hometown Lake Geneva Jaycees sponsored a horse for SMILES in this years “Horsing Around Town” public art exhibition in downtown Lake Geneva.  The purpose of the event is to raise public awareness and benefit the men,  women, and children of SMILES.  SMILES or “Special Methods in Learning Equine Skills, Inc., is a non-profit tax exempt corporation founded in 1985, offering therapeutic and recreational horsemanship lessons to children and adults with disabilities.

Your hometown Lake Geneva Jaycees horse is located in Rag Thyme in downtown Lake Geneva near Radio Shack.  Our horse is titled “SOCK MONKEY HORSE” and was created by artist Emily Nie.  We would like you to take the time to view our horse, as well as all the artists horses in Lake Geneva this summer.  We also hope that you will take the time to bid on our horse when it is auctioned off in October.  The proceeds of which will be used to help continue to find this great community organization SMILES!

 Special thanks to Matt Steinbrink who was instrumental in voicing his full support in sponsoring this project.  Without Matts support and constant praise of this event, the Jaycees would not have such a wonderfully decorated horse!

Horsing-Around Town Art Event Schedule –  2008

May 31
“Horse of a Different Color” kick-off event at Grand Geneva Resort & Spa to showcase horse before distribution to display locations.
June – September
Horses displayed throughout the summer at various Lake Geneva locations.
October 4
“The Mane Event” will be a charity auction at Grand Geneva Resort & Spa with horses going to the highest bidder.

All proceeds will benefit SMILES, a non-profit 501C3 organization that is dedicated to improving the lives of children and adults with disabilities through a partnership with horses.
