Hi Jacyees,
Just wanted to send a shout out to everyone about the recent softball tournament. As many of you know, after last years rain soaked Venetian Fest, the club made a strong push to diversify our fundraising. What a year it has been! Ice Fishing Derby in February. Big Ticket Bingo in April And now the Elkhorn Softball Tournament. All events garnered great attention, large amounts of team work, and lots of success. All of this has been built upon the long history of Venetian Festival. (More to come on Venetian Fest! Fatts, Blossom, JW and all the Jaycees really knocked this year out of the park!) We have began creating a history.....scratch that a legacy of additional events that will continue to solidify and grow our club! I hope to look back 10 years from now as a rooster and enjoy how all these events have matured from their INFANCY in 2008. Recently the Lake Geneva Jaycees saw to the success of returning a long standing Elkhorn Jaycee Softball Tourney! The list of contributors is long...but stay a tuned as each of these individuals deserve special recognition! First off the Winners: 12 teams registered and played Saturday and Sunday till the best of the best came out on top! Venom-1st Place Mad Dash-2nd Place Jimmy Z's-3rd Pace The coveted Beer Drinking Trophy: Breber Music! A big congrats to Matt of Shockers for winning the home run derby with 7 out of 10 pitches being crushed over the fence! Now for the Jaycees, their families, vendors, and special contributors! Jayson DeLange and Jeremy Kinsey! Wow, what a job well done! Congratulations on taking an event with a long and successful history, and bringing it back! You guys were all over the details. Great job on a first year event! I look forward to seeing this event grow and develop into the multi team monster you want! Chuck Magowan........Thanks for all your help....sheeeerishly! How can this guy be in so many places at once, offer all the help he does, and still catch a buzz! He deserves credit for transporting the bar, helping build the bar, the fence puller/pounder, and all the help he gave Jeremy in that hot Venetian trailer!!! Jer had the pleasure of working with Chuck at his first Venetian last year. Jer said, "this guy does not know when to stop helping!!!" Stelzer for the creating man power list, filling it up w Jaycees and jumping in to help on a variety of detail heavy projects. Black Dan for all that early morning banker stuff!!! Special note of help to the Jayson and Amy DeLange family for raising children who are well mannered and willing to lend a hand! They did a great job of keeping the grounds clean and looking professional! CJW for getting the booze trailer down there! The Cub Scouts for great food and refreshments. Of course, Jason Eck for his great suggestion about making every 15th pitcher FREE!!! We sold a lot of extra pitchers because of that! LOL! Tom G for bringing down his Beat the Heat car!
